divine_right: (I can't imagine)
It would seem that my dear brother has gone. I'm only surprised because I would have thought he preferred life on a ship.

[Private to Buffy Summers]

Perhaps I've simply grown so accustomed to your constant presence that I failed to even notice you have not looking over my shoulder of late. Is there a reason you're in the infirmary?

People disappear, it's not always clear why. He may not have meant to.

[Her voice sounds a little weak still, but it's getting better every hour.]

And, uh. I was killed. I'm out of the infirmary now but not feeling one-hundred-percent yet. Don't worry. I'll be your shadow again in no time.

Yep. Barge deaths are even more fun than the real kind.

[She's not even worried about admitting these things. NOTHING TO HIDE HERE.]

There's a thing on the network about it. Figured you would have gotten the memo.

Oh, so nobody's done the whole barge-death explanation yet, huh. [Whoops.]

When people die here they don't stay dead. They're brought back pretty much instantly by the Admiral if you're a warden, and if you're an inmate you have to wait for a warden to tell the Admiral to bring you back.

Except you're kind of sick. People call it death-tolling. And yeah, it's about as fun as it sounds.

[ Her brother's gone? She must be sad, right? ]

Sorry to hear about your brother.

I never actually met him, I just thought you might be upset. I suppose that's what I get for assuming.
